Neighborly Duty

This window exhibition is installed on the inside of a 2007 Toyota Yaris parked on the block of the artist’s residence.

This instillation was the Shelton's reaction to the observation of discarded gloves and masks found in Chicago.  During the pandemic I found myself overwhelmed by how many community members openly littered their gloves and masks on the ground near the sidewalks. The gear was designed to be worn and help prevent the spread of COVID19. However, the act of discarding these items on the ground may actually assist in spreading the virus further. The installation also includes bags for participants to more safely cary discarded items until they're able to reach a refuse bin.
